The fund managed by Beka AM, in association with Bolschare, has carried out its first closing, allowing it to begin operating by farming 500 hectares of almond and olive trees.
Beka & Bolschare Iberian Agribusiness Fund, FCR, has officially acknowledged its adherence to Article 9 of the European Union's Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), the highest sustainability standard in Europe, and becoming the first private equity fund in Spain to be officially classified as a sustainable investment product.

Barely four months after its launch, the Beka & Bolschare Iberian Agribusiness Fund, FCR, a private equity fund dedicated to the agricultural plantations management across Spain and Portugal, launched by Beka Asset Management SGIIC in colaboration with Bolschare, has already initiated its activity.  After a first closing and securing investment commitments from several institutional investors and family offices, they have began with the management of over 500 hectares of almond and olive trees.

These investments will enable the fund, firstly, to offer a recurring return to its shareholders and, secondly, to further expand its cultivation areas through an avant-garde agronomic model.

Investment products compliant with Article 9 of the European Union Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation must invest in assets with a sustainable target, generating a clearly defined and measurable impact. In addition, they must ensure strict management of any environmental or social risk throughout the project.

«The fund's sustainable investment objective is to contribute to the alleviation of climate change by investing in a more sustainable agricultural system, encouraging the population to settle in the rural areas and being aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals 13 (Climate Action), 2 (Zero Hunger) and 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth)» and «contributing to many more through the implementation of the most advanced technology in agriculture», explained Borja de Roda, CEO of Beka AM.

Beka AM has recently appointed the former Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and European Commissioner for Energy and Climate Action, Miguel Arias Cañete as Honorary Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Beka & Bolschare Iberian Agribusiness Fund, FCR.
